Lets say that you are taking a photo of a daisy. It is the most pretty daisy in a field of daisies. You decide that you like that daisy the best and bring your camera right down to the flower's level. Everything sounds just fine right? Well your silly automatic focus thinks that you are trying to take a photo of the field that you want to be in the backround. It totaly blurs the pretty daisy and you sit there watching your automatic focus thing zooming in and out on the wrong things. Eventualy you give up and walk away disappointed Your friend asks you why you stood there looking at a flower for five minutes You look at the ground and sigh telling them that your auto focus wasn't working.
In this situation the correct answer is simple. Change the switch that you have on your camera from auto focus to manuel. Then you can easily focus on what you want.
